The gigantic and dapper Owen Benjamin joined us on the latest edition of The Podfathers. We learned about the comedian's old transgendered piano teacher, his disdain for girls that fart, and the laws that govern newly established Owen Nation. Plus, I cast Frank and John as Tracy Morgan Freeman in the best penis removal movie of the year, 'The Andre Johnson Story". Enjoy.
With David Letterman announcing his retirement this week, Jake Johannsen was an ideal guest for the latest Podfathers Podcast. The comedian has made more than 50 appearances with Dave, giving him and Frank the chance to compare late night talk show notes. We also discuss changing with the times, adjusting to the audience, and how often it's appropriate to use the c-word on a podcast.
It's Jake Johannsen on this, the latest edition, of The Podfathers Podcast!!
Hypnotist Flip Orley was our "guest star" on this edition of The Podfathers. And with a hypnotist and two of the world's best voice impersonators occupying the same podcast, I was compelled to wonder-- Can Flip put Frank under as Morgan Freeman or John as Gilbert Gottfried? And how, exactly, would that sound? We also found out Flip has more crazy stories with women than I do, and far more failed marriages (4-0. The over/under was 1 1/2).
This one goes out to Nanna. It's the Podfathers latest podcast from the Tempe Improv.
Cash Cab's Ben Bailey was the latest guest of The Podfathers. That's right, not only can dude drive in rush hour while hosting a television show, he's also a stand-up comedian. We discussed missing airplanes, Tony Danza's c**t, and the highs and lows of hosting a popular game show. Plus, John Holmberg introduces the world to the key to impersonating Michael McDonald. And in a twist of fate, Bailey was made to be the contestant on the first and probably only edition of "Travis Bickle's Cash Taxi Driver", starring Frank Caliendo as Travis Bickle. Enjoy.
No guest on this edition of The Podfathers Podcast, but Frank Caliendo, John Holmberg and Chuck Powell were given sixty minutes and the entire Tempe Improv to salute Academy Award Week as only The Podfathers can. Ever want to hear Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino fall in love in "Titanic"? What if Gilbert Gottfried led Frodo and the hobbits to Mordor? This Podfathers episode also includes Frank's line crossing into baseball on ESPN, and how Chuck sees "Village People".
Listen, share, invite friends to the house to discuss, it's another Podfathers Podcast available here...
There is no comedian more down to earth than Bob Marley. And interviewing him is like meeting his entire family. On this episode of The Podfathers, John Holmberg and Chuck Powell sat down with Marley at the Tempe Improv. We listened to Bob's hilariously disastrous casting call stories, we played "Frank's Three Questions" and hosted a March Madness-eque competition pitting each other's fucked-up family members against one another. Before it ended, we were casting Bob's family members into some of our favorite movies.
Stop whatever you're doing- take it from me, your baby will figure out how to clean himself- and listen to the Marley Episode NOW.
It's not every day you share the room with arguably the three greatest celebrity voice impersonators in the world, but I did in the latest podcast. SNL's Jay Pharoah joined us, and his Shannon Sharpe impersonation was so damn funny I nearly shit my shirt. Chris Rock, Barack Obama, Donkey from Shrek, he hit us with both barrels. Frank fired back with Robin Williams, Charles Barkley, Jon Gruden, and others. It was a master's class of voice impersonation, complete with tips on how one voice becomes another. John Holmberg then steals the show with his story about "The AIDS". And if that isn't enough, Ralphie May joined us for the second half of the podcast, belting comedic home run after home run. Amazing podcast. A must listen. Good family entertainment, as long as your family isn't opposed to hearing what it would sound like if Donkey and Shrek had sex, and provided that no one in the fam has "The AIDS".
